In the wake of epic failures, such as SnapChat’s tangle with the FTC because “Promises of Disappearing Messages Were False,” we propose a tool and explain a method to legitimately and honestly protect users from retroactive and forensic attacks. Technology exists already to inform an industry standard and realize user expectations that self-destructing data is not actually recoverable.
