Drones’ Cryptanalysis: Smashing Cryptography with a Flicker

Posted on in Presentations

In an ‘open skies’ era in which drones fly among us, a new question arises: how can we tell whether a passing drone is being used by its operator for a legitimate or illegitimate purpose? This talk will show how cryptanalysis and a flicker can be used to (1) detect drone’s FPV channel, (2) determine whether a drone is being used spy after a POI and (3) locate the spying drone in space.

Learning Objectives:
1: Understand the challenge in determining whether a drone is being used illegitimately/legitimately.
2: Learn how to identify a drone’s FPV channel.
3: Learn a new method that addresses the challenge and locate a spying drone in space.

Pre-Requisites:
Understanding of FFT and OSI model.
