ChessMaster is a new targeted attack campaign affecting users in Japan. This campaign uses the new ‘ChChes’ backdoor, together with older malware tools. This session will discuss the behavior of ChChes, particularly its multiple loading techniques, which are meant to avoid AV detection. The discussion will also cover the other tools used by ChessMaster, as well as this campaign’s ties to menuPass and EMDIVI.
