Welcome to RSA Conference USA 2019!

Posted on by RSAC Editorial Team

The weather outside might be a bit cold and wet, but inside the halls of San Francisco’s Moscone Center things are heating up. The expo floors are full, the stages are wired, and there’s a palpable sense of anticipation and excitement in the air. Welcome to the 28th annual RSA Conference!

As you get your bearings and settle in for an incredible week of thought-provoking sessions and content on all things cybersecurity, we wanted to share a bit of what’s new for 2019 and preview some of Monday’s activities you won’t want to miss.

So, make sure your phone is charged, your schedule is set, and, most importantly, your eyes and ears are open!

So…What’s New for 2019?

First things first…before you get to Moscone Center, we strongly suggest you download the RSAC mobile app, where you can view the full agenda, access speaker profiles, exhibitor and sponsor details, view 3D maps of the Conference, and received notifications.

Next up, registration. This year, registration will be held in both Moscone North and Moscone South lobbies and will be open the following hours: Monday: 7am-7pm; Tuesday & Wednesday: 6:30am-6pm; Thursday: 6:30am-5:30pm; Friday: 7:30am-1:30pm.

We’ve renamed our Expo badge to the Expo Plus Pass, which allows admittance to the Expo Halls (Tuesday-Thursday), including Briefing Center sessions and the afternoon Pub Crawl on Wednesday. Expo Plus Pass holders also receive access to the Innovation Sandbox Contest, All Access Seminars, the Briefing Center, the Early Stage Expo and both West Stage and South Stage keynotes from Wednesday – Thursday.

We’ve also got some structural changes to Conference this year. As you likely heard, the construction at Moscone Center is complete, meaning attendees can enjoy the Expo in one contiguous space, and a new covered pedestrian footbridge between the North and South buildings offers convenience.

The renovations also mean RSA Conference will have two keynote stages: West Stage keynotes will continue to feature sponsor keynotes, panels and esteemed guest speakers, and South Stage keynotes will utilize the newly opened Moscone Center South to bring highly coveted sessions from industry experts to a broader audience. A full lineup of keynotes can be found here.

Be sure to save some energy for RSAC After Hours (formerly RSAC Bash), our set of evening programming Tuesday-Thursday that gives Full Conference and Discover Pass holders the chance to blow off some steam with a game night, whiskey & wine tasting, and a comedy club. Be sure to reserve your place for one of these great programs.

Lastly, we’re bringing attendees a ton of brand new programming this year. There’s too much to fit it all into this post, but some can’t-miss sessions and seminars include Launch Pad, College Day (which has been extended to two full days), Intro to Capture the Flag and Job Search 2019: Interview Skills & Resume Review Workshop.

Monday’s Highlights

Need a rundown of what’s going on tomorrow? We’ve got you covered. Note: a full list of Monday’s activities can be found here.

We have three receptions in store for Monday, which are open to all passholders:

  • The opening Welcome Reception will take place from 5-7pm in the North and South Expos.
  • The RSAC Women’s Leadership Celebration Reception will be held from 4:30-6pm in Moscone South and will celebrate the contributions and rich history of women in science and technology.
  • And for Conference newbies, the First-Timers Orientation & Networking Reception will help you navigate the week. It will be held 4:30-6pm in the Marriott.

Calling all parents to the CyberSmart Parents Education Seminar—Keeping Your Family Safe Online, which will take place twice Monday, from 9-11:30am and again 1:30-4pm. Open to all pass types, this seminar will arm you with the knowledge and tools to help teach children how to better recognize and resist online challenges.

Come check out the always-popular RSAC Innovation Sandbox Contest in the Marriott Marquis from 1:30-4:30pm. Here, 10 finalists representing cybersecurity’s boldest new innovators will be facing off and delivering three-minute pitches demonstrating their groundbreaking security technologies.

At DevOps Connect: DevSecOps Day @ RSAC, you'll hear stories from DevSecOps practitioners explaining how they made the cultural transformation from legacy development and deployment processes to integrated systems that include security as a part of the process. This full-day series of first-person talks at Moscone South will give you a perspective on how you and your team can enable faster application development with more rapid deployment to production, while integrating security into your DevOps initiatives.

And be sure you don’t miss a new seminar titled Solving Our Cybersecurity Talent Shortage, during which you will hear from leaders addressing the cybersecurity talent shortage problem by driving innovation with culture, inclusion, equity and diversity. This seminar will take place from 8am-12pm in Moscone South.

And for those of you unable to join us at the show this year, we encourage you to check out RSAC OnDemand, where you’ll find some of the Conference’s best speakers and critical intel online whenever you want it, wherever you want it. The best part? It’s free!

See you out there!
