RISK RESILIENCE: The Road to Web 3.0

Thursday, April 10, 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM
Green Room 103

 BT CNBC Simon Hobbs

BT and exclusive media partner CNBC are staging a live Bigger Thinking web cast on April 10. CNBC presenter Simon Hobbs will chair a discussion on risk resilience, Enterprise 2.0 and the semantic web with three high-profile boardroom-level innovators. The event will be streamed in real-time to a selection of online participants, joining a national debate on collaborative working from their desks and laptops across the United States by emailing comments and questions.

BT's sign-post debate charts the way forward in a rapidly evolving, highly-connected enterprise environment. Our panel will discuss the challenges posed to data integrity as the corporate space extends beyond traditional perimeters, with implications for the architecture of data security. We'll highlight the growing complexity of network use and analyse web 2.0 technologies within the work place.

Blogs, wikis and social networking sites challenge the traditional top-down, centralised corporate mind-set. Instant messaging software, personal smart-phones and rogue wireless access extend and weaken the company perimeter. How can businesses harness the full potential of user collaboration and benefit from a genuine trust-based network effect, while maintaining standards and security?

CNBC's Simon Hobbs will press the panel to forecast the evolution of the internet. How will web 3.0 bring inherent business value? Will semantic technology provide improved search capacity and master data management? Does the semantic web offer the solution to the most fundamental IT data challenges in the corporate environment?
