Crisis Management Exercise: How to Respond to a National Cyber-Crisis | RSAC 2018

Do you know what steps should be taken when there’s a critical cyber-attack with national consequences? Do we go as far as initiating war? Should the military take charge or is there a security agency better suited to resolve such conflicts?

These are just some of the areas that our panel of national security experts explore at RSAC 2018 during this crisis management exercise.

Joan O'Hara briefs panelists on a hypothetical situation: a nation state commits a catastrophic cyber-attack on a national level. Each panelist draws from their unique security background to collectively determine a threat response plan for the hypothetical cyber-attack. During a review of both strengths and gaps, it becomes clear that we need to achieve inter-government and industry cooperation in the face of such cyber-security crises. Private sector is not just a victim in this scenario, they are the possible solution.
