Coordinator for Cyber Issues, State Department

Christopher Painter is currently the Coordinator for Cyber Issues at the State Department where he coordinates and leads U.S. diplomatic efforts to advance an open, interoperable, secure and reliable Internet and information infrastructure, working closely with components across the USG, the private sector and civil society to implement the President’s International Strategy for Cyberspace and ensure that U.S. foreign policy positions on crosscutting cyber-issues are fully synchronized. He served in the White House as Senior Director for Cybersecurity Policy in the NSC where he was a senior member of the team that conducted the President's Cyberspace Policy Review and later served as Acting Cybersecurity Coordinator. Painter is a graduate of Stanford Law School and Cornell University.
