Alan Paller

Research Director and Founder, SANS Institute

Alan Paller founded SANS, a school that trains more than 35,000 cybersecurity technologists each year. He oversees a global program celebrating the people who have made remarkable improvements in cyber-risk reduction, and leads CyberStart, a nationwide, inclusive on-ramp that allows students to discover and demonstrate cyber-talent leading to careers in the field. He’s testified before the Senate and House, was a charter member of the President’s National Infrastructure Assurance Council, and co-chaired both the DHS Task Force on CyberSkills and the FCC Task Force on Best Practices in Cybersecurity. In 2010, the Washington Post named Paller one of “seven people worth knowing in cybersecurity.” Earlier he helped build a software company, took it public and merged it into a NYSE company.
