Vice President, Legal – Cybersecurity & Privacy, and General Counsel, Global Business Services, RaytheonJohn Smith serves as Raytheon's Vice President, Legal – Cybersecurity & Privacy, and General Counsel, Global Business Services. He is Raytheon Company’s first cyber-lawyer and first chief privacy lawyer. Previously, he was Associate Counsel to President George W. Bush, serving as the primary legal advisor to the White House Homeland Security Council staff. Before the White House, Smith clerked for Judge Samuel A. Alito, Jr., and practiced international litigation and regulatory law at Covington & Burling. Smith graduated magna cum laude from both Princeton and Brigham Young University, served a decade as an Army reservist, and is fluent in Russian and Ukrainian, having served two years as an early missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Russia and Ukraine.
