Litigator, Bernstein Shur

Dan Mitchell is an attorney with Bernstein Shur, a law firm based in Portland, Maine. Dan is the co-chair of the firm’s Data Security Team. He represented Patco Construction in its successful appeal before the First Circuit Court of Appeals in Patco Construction Co., Inc. v. People’s United Bank, 684 F.3d 197 (1st Cir. 2012). The decision broke new ground on how courts evaluate Internet banking security procedures under Article 4A of the Uniform Commercial Code. Dan has been recognized by Chambers USA for commercial litigation and is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He has been featured in numerous publications for his work on the Patco case, including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and Wired. Dan was named to Bank Info Security’s list of Top Ten Influencers for 2014.
