Masahiro Uemura

Masahiro Uemura is the Director of the Office of IT Security Policy at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Government of Japan. Uemura joined METI in 1993, and took up this post in April 2012. His office promotes cyber security as an important part of industrial policy. He leads various policies related to information sharing, critical infrastructure protection, CCRA and cryptography. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Chemistry from the University of Tokyo and Master’s degree in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London.
