Tim RainsTim Rains

Chief Security Advisor, WW Cybersecurity & Data Protection

Tim Rains is Chief Security Advisor of Microsoft’s Worldwide Cybersecurity & Data Protection group where he helps Microsoft’s enterprise customers with cybersecurity strategy.  Formerly, Tim was Director Cybersecurity & Cloud Strategy in Trustworthy Computing at Microsoft, where he was responsible for managing marketing and corporate communications that span Microsoft’s products and cloud services as they relate to security, privacy and reliability. 

His expertise ranges across security incident response, threat intelligence and malware protection, security strategy, operations and development. Among other things, his team manages the Microsoft Security Intelligence Report ( which provides an in-depth analysis on the global threat landscape.


Stuart AstonStuart Aston

Chief Security Advisor, Microsoft UK 

Stuart has been with Microsoft since 1998 and is the Chief Security Advisor for Microsoft in the UK. Before his role as CSA he has worked as strategy consultant to a variety of UK Government customers, mostly within the defence arena and run a number of Government Programs with the UK including the Government Security Program, the Security Co-Operation Program and the Welsh Language Program. He still continues to run the UK GSP and SCP programs today. Before joining Microsoft, Stuart worked as a consultant for ICL in their Power of 4 Consultancy, mostly focused in the defence and government spaces, prior to ICL he worked for Barclays Bank in a number of application development and IT infrastructure roles. He has been actively involved in computer security related activities since the early 1980's.



Dr. Evangelos Ouzounis

Head of Secure Infrastructure and Services Unit, European Network Information Security Agency (ENISA) 

Dr. Evangelos Ouzounis is the head of ENISA’s Secure Infrastructure and Services Unit. His unit implements EU Commission’s CIIP action plan, facilitates Member States efforts towards a harmonised implementation of incident reporting scheme (article 13 a and article 4 of the Telecom Package, as well as, article 19 of the eIDAS Directive), contributes to the development of the NIS Platform and develops good practices for National Cyber Security Strategies. 

Dr. Ouzounis holds a Ph.D from the Technical University of Berlin and a master in computer engineering and informatics from the Technical University of Patras, Greece. He wrote 2 books and more than 20 peer reviewed academic papers and chaired several international conferences. 


Javvad MalikJavvad Malik

Security Advocate, AlienVault

Javvad Malik is a security advocate at AlienVault, a blogger and a co-founder of Security B-Sides London. Prior to joining AlienVault, Javvad was a senior analyst with 451 Research providing technology vendors, investors and end users with strategic advisory services, including competitive research and go-to-market positioning. Prior to that he was an independent security consultant, with a career spanning 12+ years working for some of the largest companies across the financial and energy sectors.

An active blogger, event speaker and industry commentator Javvad is probably better-known as one of the industry’s most prolific video bloggers with a signature fresh and light-hearted perspective on security.  @J4vv4D


David PorterDavid Porter

Special Advisor, Digital Shadows

David has over 25 years of experience working as a specialist security advisor to government and commercial clients.  He is also an experienced writer, presenter and media commentator.  Originally an artificial intelligence researcher, he then worked at Deloitte (counter fraud and money laundering), Unisys (systems engineering) and Detica (information security).  As a Specialist Advisor at Digital Shadows he is currently focusing on intelligence-led security testing and crisis management in the finance sector.  David holds an MSc in Advanced Methods in Computer Science from the University of London and is a Certified Fraud Examiner.

In 2012 The Real Hustle broadcast it's 11th series having completed more than 100 episodes and over 450 scams, making it one of the most successful series on the BBC.


Hugh ThompsonHugh Thompson

Program Committee Chairman, RSA Conference

Herbert (Hugh) Thompson is Program Chair for RSA Conference and a world-renowned expert on IT security. Thompson has co-authored several books on the topic and has written more than 80 academic and industrial publications on security. In 2006, he was named one of the “Top 5 Most Influential Thinkers in IT Security” by SC Magazine and has been interviewed by top news organizations, including the BBC, CNN, MSNBC, Financial Times, Washington Post and others. He has been an adjunct professor at Columbia University in New York and is Senior VP and Chief Security Strategist at Blue Coat Systems, Inc.


Eduardo UstaranEduardo Ustaran

Eduardo is a partner in the global Privacy and Information Management practice of Hogan Lovells and an internationally recognised expert in privacy and data protection law. He is a dually qualified English Solicitor and Spanish Abogado based in London.

Eduardo is a member of the Board of Directors of the IAPP, co-founder and editor of Data Protection Law & Policy, and a member of the panel of experts of DataGuidance. Eduardo is executive editor of European Privacy: Law and Practice for Data Protection Professionals (IAPP, 2011), and co-author of Beyond Data Protection (Springer, 2013), E-Privacy and Online Data Protection (Tottel Publishing, 2007) and of the Law Society’s Data Protection Handbook (2004). Eduardo has lectured at the University of Cambridge on data protection as part of its Masters of Bioscience Enterprise, and regularly speaks at international conferences.  


Jason RaderJason Rader

Director, Cyber Threat Intelligence, RSA Security

Jason Rader is the Chief Security Strategist and Director of Cyber Threat Intelligence for RSA. He is charged with managing the strategic planning process and working with clients to develop solutions for security related business problems. These solutions typically include governance, strategy, architecture, and operational elements and, in most organizations, are driven by the senior and executive management teams.

Jason also leads the RSA Research group in the collection and publication of cyber threat intelligence related to the latest cyber attacks and advanced threat groups. 

Jason’s current focus is on developing enterprise security management strategies that include threat intelligence, adoption of the 3rd platform, incident response, mitigating advanced threats and cybercrime, and championing awareness.


James LyneJames Lyne

Global Head of Security Research, Sophos

 James Lyne is Global Head of Security Research at Sophos and an instructor at the SANS institute. Lyne’s focus is analyzing the most recent technology and threat trends, including cyber criminal activity, new security and privacy issues and generally breaking anything he can get his hands on to. He is a regular keynote speaker at conferences and industry events, has delivered a TED talk and frequently appears on TV and radio worldwide, as a representative for the industry to the not so security inclined. He is a keen advocate of generating new talent in the industry and works on a variety of initiatives; designing games and challenges to snare interest from or promote newcomers to security. He has an unfortunate collection of bow ties. @JamesLyne
