RSAC 2016 Daily Recap: Tuesday

Tuesday, the RSA Conference kicked off in style here in San Francisco. After a rousing and delightful set of cybersecurity-themed songs from a capella powerhouses Pentatonix, RSA President Amit Yoran took to the stage. In his opening keynote, Yoran told attendees that "you are how you behave," and urged the security community to help develop its talent by nurturing the hunters.

Amit Yoran Keynote"There is no actual magic that will save us," said Yoran. "Our problem isn't a technology problem. Adversaries aren't beating us with better tech. They're beating us because they're being more creative, more patient, more persistent."

The ongoing dispute between Apple and the FBI was the topic of the day, and the morning's speakers used their platforms to give their opinions—most firmly in opposition to creating security loopholes for government access. You can read more about them here: RSAC 2016 Keynote Speakers Talk Apple, Encryption and the FBI.

Sessions were packed, and getting around the Expo floors at times took some clever maneuvering, but the vibe was positive. We hope the rest of the week brings more of the same!
