RSA Conference APJ Poll: Are You Prepared for a Cyberattack?

When it comes to cybersecurity, professionals working across the globe know that they’re fighting tough enemies who only need you to make one mistake to get into your network.

As we gear up for RSA Conference Asia Pacific & Japan 2016 in Singapore this July, we took the time to ask you, the cybersecurity community in the region, a few questions to get a feel for what you’re dealing with every day.

What types of threats do you see on a daily basis?

Malware was the most common, with 32 percent of respondents choosing it as the most common regular threat, followed by 26 percent reporting phishing attacks. Hacking was seen by 23 percent of respondents and 19 percent reported that social engineering attacks are common threats.

What does that mean? It means that cybersecurity pros need to stay on their toes. However, according to our survey, many of you don’t feel ready to handle a cyberattack.

Only 11 percent of respondents said they were completely prepared to handle an attack, and 35 percent reported that they were “somewhat prepared.” While 22 percent reported they were “working on it,” a surprising and alarming 32 percent said that they were “not prepared at all” to handle a cyberattack.

That’s some sobering news.

Do you feel like your cybersecurity team could handle an attack?
