Chief Executive Officer, BT Security
Mark is CEO of BT’s new security practice, which brings together expertise from several divisions within BT into one group. This new organisation was launched in January 2013. Prior to this he managed all of BT’s internal security. Mark will continue to be responsible for all elements of BT’s own security globally, ensuring that BT has the right policies and procedures to keep the company’s assets – whether physical, logical or information - secure from attack; to counter fraud and also minimise disruption in the event of an incident. This includes BT's civil resilience obligations.
In his new role, Mark will also be responsible for ensuring that the security market message, BT Assure portfolio, capabilities and customer experience are carefully developed, in order to protect BT’s customers’ data and assets, to drive substantial global profitable revenue growth and to develop and harness security talent.
Joining BT in 2002, Mark assumed responsibility for a number of ventures including a partnership with the Scottish Government for the Criminal Records Bureau in Scotland and other UK Government contracts. He then ran the operations for a sales division in a major customer market sector, focussing on BT’s core services. Prior to BT, Mark was the commercial director of MWB Business Exchange. He is a non-executive board member of the National Security Inspectorate, a member of the Senior Strategic Steering Group of the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI). Mark’s interests outside of work are mainly focussed on his family. However, he is also a keen skier and diver and has run seven marathons.
