BT Security CEO Mark Hughes Joins RSA Conference Europe 2013 Keynote Speaker Line Up
Attendees will learn first-hand account of information security behind London 2012
Amsterdam, 22 July 2013 –RSA® Conference (www.rsaconference.com), the world’s leading information security conferences and expositions, today announced BT Security CEO Mark Hughes as a keynote speaker for the 14th annual RSA Conference Europe, taking place from 29 – 31 October 2013, at Amsterdam RAI, The Netherlands. Hughes recently led BT’s security efforts during the London Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The world’s gaze was focused on London last summer, making it critical that BT delivered a seamless and secure network infrastructure. In the face of significant threats, including travel disruption and the surge in telecom service demands, Hughes and his team developed a managed service capable of maintaining the highest possible levels of security while eliminating any potential for disruption. During his keynote, Hughes will discuss securing the greatest show on earth from BT’s perspective, including four years of planning and delivering seven weeks of flawless execution on the world stage.
“High-profile sporting events, especially those global in scale, are important social and cultural touch points, but are also coveted targets for actors with nefarious agendas,” Sandra Toms LaPedis, Vice President and General Manager of RSA Conferences. “Mark and his team were in a prestigious, but unenviable position of taking responsibilities for one of the world’s largest gatherings. The insights learned from years of planning will provide attendees with an important look at how to succeed in long term projects.”
Joining Hughes in the keynote line up is RSA Conference Program Committee Chair Hugh Thompson. An RSA Conference favourite, Thompson’s keynote will cover ways to rethink security by evaluating a statistical principle referred to as a degree of freedom. This concept is a variable in an equation that can change without impacting outcomes. Thompson believes that the industry often struggles to define the security variables that matter and which ones that are free to change without altering outcomes. During this keynote, Thompson will provide attendees with security lessons learned from mathematics and other fields along with strategies to identify and leverage degrees of freedom in information security.
