Ryan Gillis

Director of Legislative Affairs and Cybersecurity Policy, National Security Council Staff, The White House

Ryan’s primary responsibility on the National Security Council Staff is to coordinate the Administration’s engagement with Congress regarding cybersecurity. He generates consensus Administration positions on cybersecurity legislation, and advocates for those polices in Congressional negotiations. Ryan also works with a range of government and private sector stakeholders on cybersecurity policy – such as the drafting, implementation, and Congressional consultations for Executive Order 13636, “Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity.” Prior to working at the White House, Ryan held a variety of positions at the Department of Homeland Security, and spent several years in the private sector with both startup and defense contracting companies.
