James Lewis

Program Director, Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS)

James Andrew Lewis is a Program Director at CSIS. He has worked at the Departments of State and Commerce as a Foreign Service Officer and in the Senior Executive Service, on politico-military and intelligence issues. He was the Rapporteur for the 2010 and 2013 UN Group of Government Experts on Information Security. Lewis has authored numerous publications and is an internationally recognized expert whose writings include the bestselling Securing Cyberspace for the 44th Presidency. Lewis led Track II cybersecurity discussions with China, is quoted frequently in the media and has testified before Congress. His current research examines security and governance in cyberspace and the Internet’s effect on politics and innovation. Lewis received his PhD. from the University of Chicago.
