Counsel, Verrill Dana LLPJon Stanley is chair of the Information Security/Risk Management Practice Group at the Law Firm of Verrill Dana. He is a graduate of University of Maine Law School as well as a graduate of the Strathclyde Law School, UK, where he received a Masters of Law in Information Technology and Telecommunications Law. His Masters Dissertation was on civil remedies and the United States Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. His practice focus includes, among other areas: regulatory concerns for business entities, information security, privacy, cybercrime, cyberspace insurance, and intellectual property, issues. Mr. Stanley has represented clients as diverse as the State of Maine, the Japanese Government, and the Financial Services Technology Consortium (FSTC) examining the potential liability issues raised by downstream viruses, and information security system breakdowns, and numerous business entities on cybersecurity issues. He has spoken numerous times on digital security/regulatory issues at the American Bar Association Annual Meeting, the Maine Bar Association Annual Meeting, the Computer Security Institute Annual Conference, and the RSA Security Annual conference.
