In the 1990's Heiman helped lead industry efforts to liberalize export controls on encryption and avoid domestic limitations and mandatory key escrow. He currently is working to ensure that efforts to promote cybersecurity and protect critical information infrastructure are market-driven and industry-led. He has spoken at the RSA Conference on numerous occasions. He previously served as legislative director and trade counsel to U.S. Senator Patrick Moynihan. He co-chairs his firm's Policy and Regulatory Practice and serves on the Management Committee. He graduated from Harvard Law School and Harvard's Kennedy School of Government.
