What's in Store: RSA Conference Asia Pacific and Japan 2014

RSA® Conference Asia Pacific & Japan 2014 kicks-off in just 6 weeks time, and we’re returning to the amazing Marina Bay Sands in Singapore for our second APJ Conference.

SIngapore_Night_skylineWe’re hoping to build on the momentum we saw in 2013 and welcome anywhere between 2,500 and 3,000 attendees over the course of the event.

Like last year we have a packed programme.  On the morning of Tuesday July 22nd, Art Coviello, RSA’s  Chairman, will kick-off the Opening Keynotes and then we’ll hear from speakers from our other Diamond Sponsors – M. Tech and Juniper.   The Expo will open right after the Keynotes and will run through until 6.30pm.  After the morning tea/coffee break we’ll launch into our track sessions  and this year we have 50 sessions over 7 tracks, including for the  first time, sessions translated into Japanese and Mandarin.

At the end of the first day we’ll have our Welcome Reception in the Expo Hall which gives our attendees dedicated time to meet with our sponsors and exhibitors, as well as meeting and mingling with each other over light food and drinks.   Our Expo has grown tremendously this year  - we have 69 companies taking part which is nearly 3 times as  many as last year  –  and we sincerely thank each and every sponsor and exhibitor for showing their commitment to our industry.

Day 2 will kick-off with a keynote from Professor Andrew McAfee, a principal research scientist at MIT, who studies how digital technologies are changing business, the economy, and society.  He’s going to talk about the Second Machine Age, and how the “brilliant technologies” we’re lucky enough to experience today, have brought about amazing transformation, which although has a very positive up-side, can also bring challenges.

After Professor McAfee’s keynote we’ll hear keynote sessions from Qualys, Splunk and Cisco and then the Expo will open once again and stay open until 5.30pm.  As with Day 1 we’ll  go into track sessions after the morning coffee break right up until 3.45pm when we’ll have more keynote sessions -  from CA and Verizon, and then finally our closing keynote speaker - David Walsh.   David is the Chief Sports Writer for the Sunday Times in the UK, and has dedicated much of the last 15 years to exposing the truth about Lance Armstrong, and illegal doping in professional cycling. It’s going to be a fascinating session and David will be giving away a very special prize at the end.

This year, for the first time we’re running a couple of pre-Conference activities on Monday 21st July.   First of all, we’ve partnered with SANS who is going to be running an all-day workshop on Digital Forensics.  Places are limited so if you’re interested in attending please sign up quickly.  Details of what the workshop covers, as well as the price to attend, are all out on the APJ Conference website – rsaconference.com/events/ap14.

The second pre-Conference activity is the Innovation Sandbox Most Innovative Company Contest.  Innovation Sandbox has run very successfully at RSAC in the US for 6 years and is designed to attract early stage companies and start-ups to the Conference.

We’re inviting interested companies to submit details of their products, services and solutions (the deadline is 20th June) and then we’ll work with a team of independent judges to decide on a short-list of 5 who will compete on Mon 21st July by presenting to our attendees and judging panel.  The winner of the contest will be crowned “Most Innovative Company” at a cocktail reception that evening  and all the finalists will have a demo station in the Conference Expo.

If you can join us in Singapore in July, we’d love to see you!  If you register by June 21st you’ll receive our Early Bird rate of just S$600.

Make sure you keep an eye on the Conference website for breaking news and agenda updates and here’s to a very successful Conference.
